Welcome to
Northwest

Pride |
|
NWA Pride
was organized to help facilitate Pride events in Northwest Arkansas.
It is the goal of NWA Pride
to have a yearly Pride Parade & Rally to promote Pride,
self-esteem, and community in the Northwest Arkansas region. |

This
years parade was not only larger than any previous year, but
also received more national coverage. Thanks in part the the AFA
(American Family Association) denouncing
Will Phillips as Grand
Marshal and the
proclamation of
Mayor Jordan of the City of
Fayetteville.
NWA Pride applauds the strength of
Will
Phillips and his family to continue to for equality, despite the
opposition's hate spewing rhetoric. NWA Pride also praises
Mayor
Lioneld Jordan and the City of Fayetteville, AR for standing up
to the messages of hate from the AFA.
NWA Pride would
also like to thank all the organizations that participated in
the parade, as well as all the participants who came out to
support equality for us all. Special thanks to Norman, Ken,
Larry, Michael, Deb, Rachel, Jag, Ray, Derry, and the many
others who helped organize and run the parade. All of you made
this year's parade a success.
Next year will be NWA
Pride's 5th anniversary. The next parade will be on June 25,
2011. The line up will start in the parking lot on the corner of
Meadow and Church, behind Tangerine, at 8 AM, with the parade
starting promptly at 10 AM. During this year, we need your help
in planning and running of the parade. All meetings are open to
the public, unless they are in a private home, which request can
be made to attend. Come help NWA Pride make history. Stay tuned
as we choose a theme, Grand Marshal, and more.
It is free to participate in the parade, there is no
requirement to be a sponsor, either as an individual, groups of
friends, business, or organization. Those organizations or
businesses that provide in-kind or services to NWA Pride will be
listed as supporters. If you would like to have a float, which includes cars,
motorcycles, and other motorized, or anything towed, or would
like to speak at the rally following the parade, please fill out
appropriate forms on the left of this page. These forms can be
filled out during staging of the parade, but would save time if
it is already filled out prior to the parade. Subject to approval by
NWA Pride.
Stay tuned for more details. If you would like to
help, contact
NWA Pride.
Meetings are open to the public. |
